Loser Mentality at #avfc

February 17, 2012

Well it seems that Alex McLeish has succeeded in at least one thing this season.  He has managed to grind down a percentage of fans and has convinced them that Aston Villa are really as poor as our current league position suggests.  Fair enough we are not the side we were a couple of years ago but if you seriously think Villa are now one of the worst 5/6 sides in the league you are very much mistaken.  Take out the “big boys” of the Premier League (Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool) and can you honestly say the remaining sides are better than us?

Take Newcastle as a prime example, over the past 18 monhs they have sold a number of their main players (Carroll, Nolan, Barton & Enrique) and have not re-invested as much as they have recouped (sound familar) but some how they find themselves in the top 6 of the PL.  Also look at the likes of Swansea and Norwich, both newly promoted sides with squads that compared to ours seem very poor.  But again somehow they find themeselves comfortably above us and playing good football.

Do Fulham, Stoke and West Brom have better squads or first XI’s?  I dont think so!

For some it seems very easy to not blame the manager and put the blame on the players.  But let me ask you this who picks the team?  Who decides what players are going to play in what position?  Who decides the tactics?  Who is in charge of the training?  Who’s job is it to motivate the players?

Do not be fooled by McLeish’s negative spin in his press conferences and interviews.  The reason Aston Villa are struggling this season is down to him and his loser mentality that has taken over the club.

He blames the “parameters” he is working under and having to reduce the wage bill, but when you still have a squad thet contains Bent, Agbonlahor, Ireland, N’Zogbia, Given, Petrov etc does that excuse really have any substance?  I think not.

He also has a number of players who kn ow they will not be playing football at Aston Villa next season. Now, forgive me if I am incorrect, but is it even possible to motivate those players to give their all?

For me the issue is, the lack of squad depth, there are players who he cannot motivate, and no feasible 1st team quality, replacements for them?

If he is not capable of motivating these players he should not be in the job.

As for squad depth, I keep being told how great these “young” players are why not play them.

What about the issue of playing players out of position (eg. Heskey) and the awful football?

There are always too many excuses for him, when he is the one utlimatly responsible for our awful league position

His football is very much like his personality which is shit! I don’t for one minute think he has the confidence of the majority of the 1st team squad apart from the blue eyed boy’s who cling onto his every word and I can only think of maybe Heskey & Hutton who have any respect for the dour tosser. The next 4 games are going to come and the results hold the entire future of our clubs existence in the top flight of English football. Lose and we are doomed to the lower echelons of championship football. The villa blog sites that are against this site and the ousting of McRelegation will all be calling for his head if we come unstuck.
Can’t understand how anyone can possibly support the ginger twat.

you cant kick the ginger twat out you must have him for at least 3yrs like we did, it ought to be made compulsary,
seriously, he managed to demote Blues twice, and he might do the same for you, Villa might have been a top club years ago but you havn’t been that good over the last few years, it seems to me that a lot of work needs doing, maybe Ginge can do it if you give him a chance, though i doubt it.
